Fungi Fundamentals: Mushroom Foraging for Beginners

In this guided workshop, participants will learn the foundational skills needed to begin their mushroom foraging journey right here in Connecticut. Sip on warming chaga tea as you explore how to safely identify edible and medicinal mushrooms, avoid toxic species, and understand the health benefits and sustainable practices of foraging.
What to Expect
Enjoy an engaging session led by Amy Demers, founder of the CT Foraging Club. The class includes lecture-style teaching with visual examples and discussion, plus time for Q&A. You’ll walk away with the knowledge and confidence to begin safely identifying mushrooms that are fruiting in our region this season. A cup of chaga tea is included with your ticket.

No prerequisites. Open to all adults. Youth 13+ may attend with a parent or guardian present. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a notebook if you’d like to take notes.
