August Open Trails + Music
Reconnect with the land and let your curiosity lead the way during I-Park’s Open Trails & Music event, taking place August 9 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. Wander at your own pace through over 40 environmental artworks nestled in I-Park’s meadows, woodlands, and waterways. Most trails are gentle and well-marked, making it easy to enjoy a short stroll or spend the day immersed in art and nature. Bring a picnic, unplug, and soak in the serenity.
Live music will animate the landscape throughout the day:
- ****The Midnight Anthem**** (11:30–1:30pm) – A dynamic New England trio whose heartfelt mix of country, folk, rock, and Americana strikes a chord across generations.
- ****Local Honey Acoustic**** (1:30–3:30pm) – Erin Smith and Abe Wilson bring acoustic warmth, rich harmonies, and hand percussion to the afternoon air.
Guests are also invited to engage in a hands-on art activity provided by ****Jeff Fast****, owner of **Into the Woods** in Haddam, CT. A seasoned world traveler and nature-inspired artist, Jeff will supply an interactive drawing table for children and adults alike. Participants can explore the beauty of natural forms and create their own nature-inspired artworks. A scavenger hunt for kids will add a fun, educational twist to the day’s adventures.
This is a free, family-friendly outdoor event—open to all who wish to explore, create, and be inspired by the land.
Advance reservations are recommended though walk-ins may register at the Welcome Table upon arrival. A suggested donation of $10 per adult is appreciated and supports the ongoing maintenance of I-Park’s trails and gardens.
Open Trails + Music is being funded in part through grants from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation and the Community Foundation of Middlesex County/ GSB Grant Making Fund and the Whelen Family Fund.
