Teen Rep Company presents "Everybody"
Oddfellows Playhouse Teen Repertory Company presents Everybody May 15 - 24. All performances will be held at Oddfellows Playhouse, 128 Washington Street, Middletown.
Everybody is a fast-paced contemporary adaptation of the medieval morality play “Everyman”, in which an individual struggles facing their own death and is forced to confront the meaning of life. Written by contemporary playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (whose most recent play, Purpose, is currently on Broadway), Everybody was a finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Everybody, which features a cast of 16 performers ages 14 -20, is directed by Hannah Simms. Scenic Design is by Dan Schmidt, Costume Design by Christian Milik, Sound Design by Joseph Getter, Lighting Design by Aaron Westcott, and Properties Design by Pam Lang.
Director Simms says “A morality play is an apt choice for a moment in which our national morality is being put to the test. Everybody is a wickedly funny play that explores what morality and mortality look like in our disconnected culture, and this cast of brilliant young actors are tackling it with bravery and sensitivity.”
Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for kids and students. “Big Hearted Oddfellow” tickets are available for $25 for anyone who really loves and values theater and its impact on the lives of young people.
Thursday, May 15 at 7 pm is a “Pay-What-You-Can” Preview. Performances will be at 7 pm on May 16, 17, 23 and 24, and at 4 pm on Sunday, May 18.
